Sometimes I find it interesting in todays fast paced hurry up world that some companies are so quick to point out something, demand a change in something or point out a fault that when dealing closely with them, they are guitly of exactly the same behavior. I believe that this is called a double standard. I will give you the definition of a double standard…just FYI "www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/double%20standard - a situation in which two people, groups, etc., are treated very differently from each other in a way that is unfair to one of them." Let me clarify my thoughts on this situation. I recently delt with a company that I have known since 1995. They were once a very good company but since I have heard many negative things about the way they not only conduct the business but the idealism that they can hold a company or group to one standard while doing the exact same thing, hiding under the guise of "protection of their customers". I will further clarify that thought, we are just talking here, just my opinion and thoughts. So, I had an Icon on my website for a group that I no longer wanted to be part of. No problem, I was asked to take it down. Not being a web guru, I attempted in good faith to remove it and did in fact remove the Icon that I found on one of my pages.
They found another embedded deep on the website in an obscure place and fired off a letter from an attorney that they were going to sue me. Wow! stated that it was "UNREADABLE" but asked me to remove it, which I did….
How about a call to request that I remove it and a follow up. I know we are all really busy and sometimes forget things but Wow was all I could think. Then I told them that to make it right, I would just pay them the (what I considered) exorbanant membership fee of thousands of dollars to use the Icon and move on. That way I would not have to admit I was not tech savy and just couldn’t find it on my website. They said that they were not interested in my business because it took me too long to take it down…Wow! but the right to refuse service is the right of all of us, so I found a company that gives AC-0056A accedidation at HALF THE PRICE! WOW! http://www.nqa-usa.com/services/ac00-56
The AC 00-56 is a program supported and strongly endorsed by the FAA for the voluntary accreditation of civil aircraft parts distributors. This program is firmly established on the concept of voluntary industry oversight using third party accreditation bodies to review distributor quality systems. The intent of this program is to assist in alleviating the lack of proper documentation and will ultimately improve traceability.
In response - NQA,USA has established a program using our extensive industry experience and dedicated staff of eminently qualified Aerospace Auditors. This program will review your quality system in accordance with the guidance provided by AC 00-56. This review will determine your systems acceptability for ensuring that the parts you provide will satisfy your customer's requirements and that your documentation accurately reflects the criteria identified in your customer's purchase order.
Success will result in certificate issued by NQA,USA attesting to the fact that you have successfully passed an audit of your quality system and that your system satisfies the requirements set forward by FAA AC 00-56. To maintain this certificate will require periodic surveillance to ensure continued compliance.
Then that Company, whom I have known for 18 years, then put a statement on their website stating that "Global Filtration is not currently ASA-100 accredited. There is website language that they are ASA-100 approved and they are not. The website also has an unreadable, invalid ASA-100 accreditation certificate". They listed this as an open case from 2011! I have sent requests to have them take it down, but alas, they have not as I did when asked to take mine down. HMMMM ….is that a situation in which two people or groups are treated differently from each other in a way that is unfair to one of them…? I ask you, is it fair for them to have a false statement for years on their website and yet demand via a threat of legal action that I remove one that I did not even know about, due to failure to read website for Dummies? Maybe they should read…Bullies for Dummies…or Double Standards for Dummies! I'm just saying.
